MagNA Pure LC 2.0 Instrument – System Technology

The MagNA Pure LC 2.0 Instrument combines the reagent and sample stage as the working platform. This powerful instrument uses an 8-channel nozzle head for pipetting, magnetic isolation, and with integrated sensors, for detection of clots and tip loss. In addition, the instrument is supplied with a drop catcher to prevent cross-contamination, so you obtain the highest quality nucleic acids and improved efficiency with your automated purification. The UV decontamination and HEPA-filter system guarantee maximum safety for both samples and environment.
The MagNA Pure LC 2.0 Instrument was specifically designed to eliminate the carryover of nucleic acids to other samples, even when working with high-titer viral sample material.
The MagNA Pure LC 2.0 Instrument design:
- Minimizes exposure risk and cross-contamination by performing both isolation and purification in the reaction tip.
- Utilizes a controlled, piston-driven 8-place pipetting head for movement and positive-displacement liquid handling, without vacuum pumps or tubing.
- Creates a no-drip system by retaining the fluid in the reaction tip. Additionally, a drop catcher absorbs excess fluid if necessary.
- Protects each sample and the stage from nucleic acid contamination between isolation runs using the integrated UV decontamination feature.

Each of the 8 nozzles with attached pipette tips serves as the reaction unit for the nucleic acid isolation. A magnetic plate binds the magnetic beads when necessary during the isolation process. An integrated LED and photodiode light sensor detects tip loss and clotting.

Prologue Unit (1)
Set up of sample materials, reagents, and required pipette tips.
Processing Unit (2)
Isolation and purification steps are performed in up to four processing cartridges, each for eight samples.
Elution and Post-Elution Unit (3)
Combines heating and cooling chambers for sample elution and storage with a large second cooling unit for post-elution pipetting. In the latter, the instrument performs PCR setup into, e.g., a LightCycler® 96-well PCR plate or a LightCycler® Sample Carousel or other generic vessels.
