Chikungunya Virus (CHIKV) is an Alphavirus with a positive strand RNA genome. To humans the virus is transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes. CHIK fever apears after a incubation period of 2-12 days with high fever and arthritic symptoms but infections are usually not fatal. Since there is no antiviral treatment the patient care is based on symptoms only.
1 Vial orange cap 96 reactions Chikungunya Virus (lyophilized)
1 Vial black cap Positive Control (RNA), Cp-value ~ 30
Additional Reagents required
LightCycler® Multiplex RNA Virus Master
A 98 bp fragment from the viral E1 gene is amplified with specific primers and detected with a Cyan500 labeled hydrolysis probes (500 channel).
This assay detects 10 genome equivalent copies or less per reaction (in vitro transcribed RNA).
