Infectious diarrhea can be caused by viruses, bacteria or parasites. One of the most common cause of acute viral gastroenteritis in adults is caused by Sapovirus (SapoV), a positive strand RNA virus with a high genomic variability. SapoV are classified into 7 genogroups (GG), from which GI, GII, GIV and GV are known to infect humans.
1 Vial orange cap 96 reactions SapoV (lyophilized)
1 Vial black cap Positive Control (RNA), Cp-value ~ 30
Additional Reagents required
LightCycler® Multiplex RNA Virus Master
A 106-109 bp long fragment from the viral genome is amplified with specific primers and detected with a mixture of five Cyan500 labeled hydrolysis probe (500 channel) representing GGI to GGV.
This assay detects 10 genome equivalent copies or less per reaction (in vitro transcribed RNA).
Sample Material and Extraction
Typical specimen are feces or rectal swabs. See ModularDx Document Extraction Protocols.
