Indoleamine-pyrrole 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) is an enzyme that catalyzes the degradation of the essential amino acid L-tryptophan to N-formyl-D-kynurenine. High levels of IDO are seen in antigen presenting cells and some tumor cells.
